Kia EV3 priced under $31,000 in the US, becomes brand's cheapest EV

Kia EV3 priced under $31,000 in the US, becomes brand's cheapest EV

Kia has announced US pricing for its EV3, a smaller sibling to the EV9 SUV, and it comes in below the company's earlier target. The starting price is $29,450, plus a $1,495 destination fee, bringing the total to $30,945, well under the $35,000 Kia mentioned when it confirmed the EV3 for the US back in April.

The EV3 offers up to 321 miles of all-electric range and comes in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive versions. It borrows design cues from the EV9 but is nearly the same size as Kia's Niro crossover. It also includes an NACS port, making it compatible with Tesla's Supercharger network.

Kia says the EV3 can go from a 10% to 80% charge in about 31 minutes using a 350kW DC fast charger.

This pricing makes the EV3 the most affordable electric car in Kia's lineup. That's notable at a time when affordable EVs are getting harder to find in the US. After the Trump administration rolled back Biden-era tax credits in July 2025, several automakers dropped EV models or canceled their plans altogether.

The EV3 joins a small group of vehicles, like the Slate Truck, that manage to stay under $30,000 before fees.

More options are on the way. In early August. Ford said its upcoming "Fathom" EV truck would cost $28,350 and ship in early 2027. Meanwhile, some incentives are returning. In July, California launched a new EV rebate program offering first-time buyers $3,500 off a new EV and $1,500 off a used one.
