Kia Beats Tesla in Real-World EV Battery Longevity Test

Kia Beats Tesla in Real-World EV Battery Longevity Test

A Swedish study has upended assumptions about which electric vehicles hold onto their battery capacity best, and the winner isn’t Tesla. The analysis, conducted by online car marketplace Carla and using AVILOO diagnostic tools, examined nearly 10,000 battery tests on EVs sold in Sweden between 2022 and 2026.

Instead of relying on the car’s own optimistic estimates, the test measured true state of health after 62,000 miles.

18 percent. The Kia EV6 took third place, meaning Hyundai Motor Group swept the podium. 35 percent. 5 percent.

4, and the Tesla Model X, all above 92 percent. The bigger takeaway: every car in the study kept more than 90 percent of its capacity past 62,000 miles. For most drivers, that’s three to four years of driving, meaning the battery pack is now likely to outlast the car itself.
