Jeep Grand Wagoneer Recall: Over 11,000 Vehicles Affected by Brake Assist and ESC Failures

Jeep is recalling more than 11,000 Grand Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer L SUVs from the 2022-2024 model years due to a software glitch that can cause a sudden loss of electronic stability control and brake assist. The issue stems from a calibration error in the anti-lock brake control module, which may fail to properly engage these critical safety systems during certain driving conditions.
According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the problem can occur when the vehicle is started after being parked for an extended period. Drivers may see warning lights on the dashboard, and in some cases, the brake pedal might feel unusually firm or require more force to stop the vehicle.
No crashes or injuries have been reported so far, but the potential for reduced braking performance increases the risk of an accident.
Jeep parent company Stellantis will begin notifying owners by mail starting February 14, 2025. Dealers will update the anti-lock brake control module software free of charge. Owners with questions can contact Jeep customer service at 1-800-853-1403, referencing recall number 01A. The NHTSA campaign number is 24V-926.
