Jaguar Type 01 Interior Revealed: Bold New Cabin Draws More Criticism

Jaguar’s reinvention has already sparked plenty of backlash, and the brand is showing no signs of backing down. The upcoming Type 01 electric grand tourer brings that controversial design philosophy into production, and now we have our first look inside. The cabin features a dramatic central spine running through the entire vehicle, separating the four seats and emphasizing the car’s long proportions.
The spine wears a brass-inspired finish, with Jaguar’s leaping-cat emblem worked into the design. Colors and textures take inspiration from travertine stone and artisan textiles, giving the interior a warm, architectural feel.
The dashboard is extremely slim, and digital interfaces are hidden until needed. A ClearSight rearview display sits at the base of the windshield, positioned to let the driver check mirrors with minimal eye movement. This camera-based system helps address the poor visibility caused by the car’s small rear window and thick bodywork.
The seating position is low, with the cabin wrapping closely around the driver. Passengers get their own defined spaces instead of a single rear bench. Jaguar has not yet shown how the hidden screens operate, so it remains unclear whether the minimalist design is truly intuitive or just photogenic.
A camouflaged prototype will appear during Monterey Car Week, then arrive at the Pebble Beach Concours on August 16. The full production car will be revealed in New York on October 6, 2026. This interior preview makes one thing clear: Jaguar has heard the criticism and decided to keep pushing forward.
Whether the Type 01 becomes a bold new chapter or an expensive identity crisis, it certainly won’t be boring.
