Italian Shop Plans a Mid-Engined 911 That Porsche Never Built

A small Italian workshop called Angelelli Automobili is taking the Porsche 911 in a direction the factory never dared. Their creation, the Project 754, starts with a 991 or 992-generation 911 but goes far beyond a simple body kit. Two versions are in the works: the rear-engined 754 R and the mid-engined 754 M.

That mid-engine layout is something Porsche itself has only attempted with the ultra-rare GT1 homologation special.

11-liter, with custom intakes, exhausts, cooling systems, and ECU tuning. Depending on the setup, power could range from 700 to 800 horsepower, which means forced induction is a given. But the real headline is weight. The company says the 754 could tip the scales at just 1,100 kg (2,425 lbs), a full 350 kg lighter than a current GT3 RS.

That’s thanks to carbon fiber body panels and extensive use of 3D-printed titanium and alloy parts.

Angelelli is also borrowing a page from Czinger’s playbook, using generative AI to create what it calls “Alien Mesh Design” for components like the steering wheel, shaving off every possible gram. The exterior keeps unmistakable 911 cues but adds massive air intakes, swollen arches, new side scoops, and an aggressive rear diffuser and wing.

Production is capped at just 50 units, if the project makes it past the development stage, which is never a sure thing.
