Ioniq 5 N Posts 27.4-Second 0-150-0 MPH Run in 2026 Test

Car and Driver's 2026 0-150-0 mph speed test shows the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N completing the run in 27.4 seconds, beating the Dodge Charger by nearly 10 seconds. The all-wheel-drive electric crossover, priced from $61,500 (as-tested at $62,500), delivers 641 horsepower and weighs 4,875 pounds, giving it a 7.6 lb/hp ratio.
Unlike the 2023 test, where only one gas-free vehicle competed, this year more than half the field was hybrid or electric. The Ioniq 5 N's dual-motor setup combines serious power with playful features like simulated shifts, rowdy sounds, and multiple drift settings, making it a favorite around the office.
For the quickest launch, testers recommend skipping shift modes and using N drive mode with ESC Sport engaged, holding the pedals, then releasing. With N Launch Control active, all 641 horsepower are unleashed. The car managed the entire run in 4,039 feet, less than halfway down the Oscoda runway, without traction issues at launch, unlike the front-drive Elantra N.
The only hiccup was an occasional warning about launch-control conditions not being met on back-to-back runs. Canceling and restarting the launch resolved the issue. The Ioniq 5 N may not top the list, but as a bargain measured by dollars per second, it stands out.
