Hyundai Slashes Ioniq 5 N Price by $6,300, Adds 10-Stage Drift Control for 2026

The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N was a blast to drive, fake engine noises, heavy curb weight, and all. But at over $66,000, it was also a stretch for many buyers. For 2026, Hyundai has chopped $6,300 off the base price, bringing the MSRP to $59,900. Add the $1,600 destination fee, and you're looking at $61,500 to get behind the wheel.

That's a serious discount for a 641-horsepower electric crossover that already earned a reputation for being ridiculously fun.

Usually, a price cut means something's been stripped out. Not here. Hyundai says the lower cost is part of a broader push to make its track-ready N models more accessible. The EPA range holds steady at 221 miles, but the old CCS charging port has been swapped for an NACS port, giving you access to Tesla Superchargers.

You also get a dual amperage Level 1/Level 2 charger, driver attention monitoring, and a new Performance Blue Pearl paint option. No mention of any deleted features.

The big driving-focused update is the Drift Optimizer. Last year, it was either on or off. Now, drivers can dial in one of 10 stages of drift assistance. The Ioniq 5 N could already slide like a champ, but having more control over how much the electronics intervene is a welcome tweak.

It's the kind of change that makes a fast car even more engaging, and harder to crash while having fun.

My only gripe? Hyundai still hasn't delivered the Ioniq 6 N, which uses the same powertrain. The company's website says it's "coming 2026 with extremely limited availability," but that's vague. I'm ready for a 641-hp sedan, and I'm betting plenty of buyers are too. Until then, at least the 5 N is cheaper, easier to drift, and finally Supercharger-compatible.
