Hyundai Recalls 47,000 Kona and Kona Electric SUVs - Rear Seatbelt Flaw Prompts Action

Hyundai Recalls 47,000 Kona and Kona Electric SUVs - Rear Seatbelt Flaw Prompts Action

Hyundai has issued a recall for roughly 47,000 Kona and Kona Electric SUVs due to a problem with the rear center seatbelt. According to the automaker, the seatbelt’s anchor may not properly secure the buckle in a crash, increasing the risk of injury for passengers in the middle seat.

The recall covers certain 2024 and 2025 model year vehicles.

The issue stems from a manufacturing error in the seatbelt assembly, where the buckle may not fully latch into the anchor. Hyundai says it has received no reports of crashes or injuries related to the defect, but owners are urged to bring their vehicles to a dealership for a free repair.

Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the rear center seatbelt assembly at no cost. Notification letters are expected to go out to owners starting next month.

For Kona and Kona Electric owners in South Florida, Boca Auto Care recommends checking your vehicle identification number (VIN) on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website or Hyundai’s recall page to see if your SUV is affected. If you’re due for service, our team can assist with any recall-related repairs or routine maintenance to keep your ride safe and reliable.

Don’t wait, safety first.
