Hyundai Elantra N Takes on the 0-150-0 MPH Challenge

6 seconds. 8 pounds per horsepower, the weakest in its group.
The Elantra N faced stiff competition, with the article comparing its uphill battle to a plucky hero in a war movie going up against a much larger, better-armed force. Despite being outmatched in most metrics, it held its own as the most budget-friendly option in the test.
Getting a clean run required some work. The test team brought back the Elantra to check whether a premium-fuel octane-learning procedure would improve results. They adjusted the launch control, selected N drive mode, and set stability control to Sport. After several practice runs, they found that a conservative 2,500 rpm launch minimized wheel-spin without bogging down, avoiding the spinning starts they saw at 3,200 rpm.
On the braking end, the Elantra stopped from 150 mph in 675 feet, a distance roughly halfway up the Empire State Building. 4 seconds.
