Hybrid SUV Recall: Battery Fire Risk Prompts Urgent Warning for Owners

A major safety recall has been issued for a popular hybrid SUV after reports emerged that the vehicle's battery pack could catch fire, even when the car is turned off and parked. The recall, affecting thousands of vehicles, urges owners to park outdoors and away from structures until repairs are made.

The problem lies in the high-voltage battery assembly, which can short-circuit and overheat, potentially igniting a fire. The affected model is the 2022-2024 version of the hybrid SUV, sold under several brand names globally. So far, no injuries have been reported, but several incidents of smoke and flames have been documented by regulators.

Dealers will replace the entire battery pack free of charge, a process that takes about four hours. Owners are being contacted directly by mail, but can also check their vehicle's identification number (VIN) on the manufacturer's recall website. In the meantime, the strongest advice is simple: don't park it in the garage.
