Honda to Kill Manual Civic Si and Integra After 2026, Leaked Plant Memo Shows

A leaked internal memo from Honda’s Ontario assembly plant confirms the end of the road for two of the last affordable stick-shift sports cars in America. According to the document, which surfaced on social media and is dated July 22. Honda plans to “pause” production of the manual-transmission Civic Si and Acura Integra A-Spec Tech after the 2026 model year.
The reason cited: uncertainty around EPA emissions rules for 2027 and beyond.
5-liter four-cylinder engine paired exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox. The Civic Si starts at $32,690, while the Integra A-Spec Tech manual runs $40,495. Honda says overall production volume at the Alliston, Ontario plant won’t drop, other trims will simply fill the gap.
The memo adds that Honda will revisit the decision once EPA requirements become clearer, leaving a sliver of hope for a revival.
0-liter turbo engine and are manual-only. The Type R has already been axed in Europe due to stricter emissions rules there. Honda declined to comment further when reached, but if the leak proves accurate, it marks another blow for manual fans. Volkswagen recently killed the stick shift on the Jetta GLI, following earlier manual deletions on the Golf GTI and Golf R, citing sluggish sales.
