Honda Recalls Over 300,000 Vehicles for Steering Problem That Could Lead to Crashes

Honda Recalls Over 300,000 Vehicles for Steering Problem That Could Lead to Crashes

Honda has issued a recall affecting hundreds of thousands of vehicles across multiple models, citing a manufacturing defect that could make steering difficult and increase the likelihood of a crash. The recall covers certain 2022-2023 Civic, Civic Type R, CR-V, and Acura Integra models, as well as the 2023 Honda HR-V and Acura RDX.

The issue stems from a steering gearbox component that may have been improperly assembled, potentially causing excessive internal friction and making the steering wheel hard to turn.

According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the problem can lead to a condition known as "sticky steering," where the wheel does not return to center smoothly after a turn. Drivers may notice increased effort required to steer, particularly at higher speeds.

Honda says the defect has been linked to at least 10 reports of crashes or injuries, though no fatalities have been reported. The automaker is notifying owners and will replace the affected steering gearbox assembly free of charge.

For Boca Auto Care customers, this recall is a reminder to stay on top of safety notices. If you own one of the affected models, check your VIN on Honda’s recall website or contact your local dealer. Boca Auto Care can also help verify whether your vehicle is included and coordinate any necessary repairs.

Don’t ignore a sticky steering wheel, it’s not just an annoyance, it’s a safety hazard.
