Honda Recalls 325,000 Vehicles Over Backup Camera Glitch

S. after discovering that backup cameras on certain models can fail, increasing the risk of accidents while reversing. The recall affects specific years of the Honda Civic, CR-V, and HR-V, among others, where a software issue may prevent the rearview image from displaying properly.
According to documents filed with federal safety regulators, the problem stems from a communication error between the camera and the vehicle’s audio display system. When the glitch occurs, drivers see a blank screen instead of the live camera feed, which violates federal safety standards requiring a clear view behind the car.
Honda says it has received no reports of crashes or injuries linked to the issue so far.
Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail starting next month. The fix is free: Honda dealers will update the camera software at no charge. For more details, drivers can check their vehicle identification number on Honda’s recall website or call customer service. In the meantime, the company advises relying on side mirrors and turning your head to check blind spots.
