Honda Pulls the Plug on Prologue EV After Just Two Years

Honda’s brief experiment with the Prologue electric SUV is coming to an end. After only two years on the market, the automaker has confirmed it will discontinue the model following the 2026 model year. A Honda spokesperson told CarBuzz that sales will wrap up later this year, though existing owners will continue to get full support through the dealer network for service, parts, and warranty coverage.
The Prologue, which hit showrooms in March 2024, was built on General Motors’ Ultium platform, the same bones used for the Chevy Blazer EV. S. gets hit with a 25% tariff. Honda had positioned the Prologue as the first chapter in its planned 0 Series of in-house EVs, but those plans were scrapped earlier this year.
The Acura version, the ZDX, was already killed off in September.
Sales numbers tell the story. In the first half of 2026. 5% drop from the same period last year. For context, the brand sold over 226,000 CR-Vs in that same window. Only the new Prelude, still ramping up production, sold fewer units. The Prologue’s death isn’t a shock. Honda has been pulling back hard from EVs, taking nearly $10 billion in write-offs and canceling upcoming models like the Ohio-built Acura RSX and the Afeela joint venture with Sony.
The name “Prologue” was meant to signal a new beginning. Instead, it’s turning out to be a short-lived introduction to a story that, at least for now, remains unwritten.
