Honda Pulls the Plug on Its Final American EV

Honda Pulls the Plug on Its Final American EV

Honda has officially ended sales of the Prologue in the United States, marking the complete withdrawal of its electric vehicle lineup from the American market. The move comes alongside the cancellation of the Acura ZDX, leaving Honda without a single EV option for U.S. buyers.

The Prologue, which launched just last year as Honda’s first serious EV push, was a joint venture with General Motors, sharing its platform with the Chevy Blazer EV. But slow sales and shifting priorities within Honda’s leadership led to the decision to cut the model entirely. The Acura ZDX, its luxury cousin, met the same fate.

For now, Honda’s American customers will have to look to hybrids like the CR-V and Accord if they want any electrification. The company has promised a new generation of EVs built on its own e:Architecture platform, but those won’t arrive until 2026 at the earliest. In the meantime, the Prologue’s quiet exit leaves a noticeable gap in Honda’s showroom floor.
