Honda Pulls Over 325,000 Cars for Rearview Camera Glitch

Honda Pulls Over 325,000 Cars for Rearview Camera Glitch

Honda has issued a recall affecting more than 325,000 vehicles after discovering a problem with the rearview camera display. The issue, which impacts several popular models from the 2022 to 2024 model years, could cause the camera image to fail when the car is put in reverse, creating a safety hazard for drivers trying to back up safely.

According to documents filed with federal regulators, the glitch stems from a software error in the audio display unit. When the vehicle is started, the system may not properly initialize the camera feed, leaving the screen blank or frozen. Honda says it has not received reports of crashes or injuries linked to the defect, but the company is moving quickly to fix the problem before it leads to an accident.

Owners of affected vehicles, including the Honda Accord, Civic, CR-V, HR-V, and Pilot, will be notified by mail starting in March. Dealers will update the audio display software at no charge. If you drive one of these models and haven't heard from Honda yet, you can check your vehicle's recall status by entering the VIN on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's website.
