Honda Owners Get Gemini AI Upgrade, Ditching Google Assistant for Smarter Conversations

S. The over-the-air update targets vehicles equipped with Google built-in, promising a more natural way to interact with your car’s voice system. Instead of memorizing rigid commands, drivers can now speak to Gemini the way they would to a person.

The key change? Gemini understands natural language and keeps context between requests. So if you’re on a road trip, you can ask for a highly rated outdoor lunch spot along your route without breaking it into separate commands. Eligible vehicles include the 2023-and-newer Accord Touring Hybrid, 2025-and-newer Civic Sport Touring Hybrid, Civic Si, and Civic Hatchback Sport Touring Hybrid, plus all 2024-and-newer Prologues, the 2026 CR-V Sport Touring Hybrid, Passport, Pilot, and upcoming Prelude.

” Honda frames it as a hands-free convenience tool for planning vacations, brainstorming ideas, or catching up on news while keeping your eyes on the road. But with any AI assistant, there’s a privacy angle. Gemini can access location, conversation history, and connected apps if you opt in.

Google says you can manage or disable much of that data through the vehicle’s privacy settings, but it’s worth noting just how much information these systems can handle. For Boca Auto Care customers, this update means your Honda just got smarter, and a bit more curious about you.
