Honda Officially Confirms Next-Gen Ridgeline Is Coming - Here’s What We Know

Honda has ended months of speculation by confirming that the Ridgeline pickup will receive a third-generation redesign. The new model is expected to hit dealerships within the next two years. The announcement came with a single teaser image showing the silhouette of a four-door truck, though details remain scarce.
” That likely means a boxier, more aggressive stance inspired by the recently redesigned Passport, especially the off-road-ready TrailSport trim. Expect the signature in-bed trunk to return, along with proportions that stay true to the Ridgeline’s unique unibody platform.
Development of the new Ridgeline is already underway. The design team is working out of Honda’s studio in Southern California, while engineering takes place at the Honda Auto Development Center in Ohio. Production will continue at Honda’s Alabama assembly plant, where the current model is built.
To make room for the switchover. Honda will pause production of the current Ridgeline later this year. That pause will allow the factory to retool and prepare for the new truck’s assembly line.
Under the hood, the next Ridgeline is expected to adopt a hybrid V-6 powertrain with up to three electric motors. Early reports suggest the system will improve acceleration by more than 10 percent and boost fuel economy by over 30 percent compared to the current gas-only models.
While Honda hasn’t confirmed those numbers yet, the shift toward electrification fits the brand’s broader strategy. For now, fans of the Ridgeline will have to wait a bit longer for a full reveal, but the confirmation alone signals that Honda is serious about keeping its mid-size pickup competitive.
