Honda Issues Recall for 325K Vehicles Over Rearview Camera Glitch

S. after discovering a problem that could cause the rearview camera display to go dark. The issue affects certain 2022 through 2025 model year vehicles, including popular models like the Civic, CR-V, HR-V, and Acura Integra. According to documents filed with federal regulators, a software error in the audio control unit can prevent the rearview camera image from showing up on the screen when the car is in reverse.
The defect poses a clear safety risk. Federal law requires all new vehicles to have functioning rearview cameras, which help drivers see obstacles directly behind them. Without a working display, the risk of backing into a person or object increases. Honda says it has received 1,717 warranty claims related to the issue but is not aware of any crashes or injuries tied to the problem.
Honda will notify affected owners by mail starting in February. Dealers will update the audio control unit software free of charge. Owners who have already paid for repairs may be eligible for reimbursement. For questions, Honda's customer service line is open at (888) 234-2138.
If you think your vehicle might be impacted, check your VIN on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's website or call your local dealer.
