Honda and Acura Roll Out Smarter Voice Assistant That Actually Holds a Conversation

Honda and Acura Roll Out Smarter Voice Assistant That Actually Holds a Conversation

Thousands of Honda and Acura vehicles are about to get a lot chattier behind the wheel. The automakers are rolling out Google Gemini, an artificial intelligence assistant that lets drivers interact using natural speech rather than robotic one-word commands. Instead of barking "Navigate to 123 Main Street" and hoping for the best, you can ask Gemini to find a nearby coffee shop, summarize breaking news, or help plan a weekend road trip, all in a back-and-forth that feels more like talking to a friend than a machine.

The upgrade arrives automatically on models already equipped with Google built-in software. When you're signed into your Google account, Gemini can handle layered questions and remember context from earlier in the conversation. " it'll adjust the suggestions without needing to repeat your location.

Honda says this is a big step beyond the old Google Assistant, which required strict, singular commands.

Nine Honda models and three Acura models qualify, but only certain trims and model years. On the Honda side, the 2023-current Accord Touring Hybrid, 2025-current Civic Sedan Si and Sport Touring Hybrid, and 2024-current Prologue (all trims) are included, along with the 2026 Pilot, Passport, CR-V Sport Touring Hybrid, and Prelude.

For Acura, the 2024 ZDX, 2025-current MDX, and 2026-current ADX A-Spec Advance make the cut. Jessika Laudermilk, assistant vice president of Honda National Auto Sales, called the integration "an essential part of the driving experience," noting that connected technology is no longer just a convenience for customers.
