Hamilton Reportedly Set to Extend Ferrari Stay Ahead of Monza

The Formula 1 driver market is buzzing with news about the sport's most successful driver. Lewis Hamilton has reportedly renewed his contract with Scuderia Ferrari, securing his place at Maranello beyond his initial two-year deal.
According to Spanish broadcaster Partidazo COPE, the seven-time champion has signed an extension. The announcement is expected just before the Italian Grand Prix at Monza on September 6, aligning with Ferrari's biggest home event of the year.
Hamilton originally joined Ferrari for the 2025 season on a flexible "two-plus-one" contract, which guaranteed his seat through 2026 and gave him a unilateral option for 2027. After a tough transitional 2025, he has bounced back strongly in 2026, regularly challenging teammate Charles Leclerc and winning at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix.
His current form made activating the 2027 option seem like a formality to paddock insiders.
Locking in his seat through the 2027 regulation changes stabilizes Ferrari's future but blocks a path for younger talent. With Leclerc signed on a long-term deal extending past 2030, the team's doors are closed for now. That means academy prospect Oliver Bearman will likely continue his development at Haas rather than moving up to the senior team soon.
