GM’s Electric Trucks Aren’t Selling - Here’s How Much Dealers Are Cutting Prices

General Motors bet big on electric pickups, rolling out the Chevrolet Silverado EV and two GMC models with hopes of dominating the EV truck market. But the numbers tell a different story: sales have tanked, and dealers are now scrambling to move inventory with discounts that can top $21,000.
One 2024 Silverado EV work truck originally priced at $75,345 is now listed for just $53,949 after a hefty markdown. Others have been quietly turned into courtesy vehicles just to get them off the lot.
5%, with only 3,672 units sold, that’s about 612 per month. 9% drop in Hummer EV sales, which fell to 3,601 vehicles. Combined, GM moved just 10,317 electric trucks in six months. For context, Chevrolet sold 25,418 units of its aging Express van in the same period.
The biggest discounts are showing up on leftover 2024 and 2026 models. At Carr Chevrolet in Oregon, a 2024 Silverado EV work truck is slashed by $21,396. A 2024 RST trim at McCarthy Chevrolet in Missouri is down $15,000 to $81,995, still a steep ask. In Illinois, Advantage Chevrolet is offering $8,589 off a 2026 Silverado EV LT Max Range, bringing it to $86,995.
Texas buyers can grab a 2026 Silverado EV LT at Clay Cooley Chevrolet for $53,995 after a $9,000 discount.
GMC dealers are following suit. AutoNation Buick GMC in Corpus Christi has a 2026 Sierra EV Elevation Extended Range for $68,770, down $10,565. Covert Buick GMC in Texas is offering $7,000 off a similar model, pricing it at $60,685. With inventory piling up and demand soft, shopping around and negotiating hard can pay off.
Just keep in mind that some of these trucks may have already logged miles as dealer loaners.
