GMC’s New Hummer EV Icon 25 Pays Homage to the Yellow H2 of 2002

GMC’s New Hummer EV Icon 25 Pays Homage to the Yellow H2 of 2002

If the sight of a yellow Hummer H2 from the early 2000s brings back memories, GMC has something for you. The automaker just announced a special 25th anniversary edition of its electric Hummer, called the Icon 25. It’s a nod to the original H2 that debuted at the Los Angeles auto show back in 2002.

While the new version swaps the old V-8 for an all-electric powertrain pushing up to 1,000 horsepower, the massive stance and bright yellow paint are unmistakable throwbacks.

The Icon 25 is available on both the SUV and pickup versions, but you’ll need to pick the 2X or 3X trim to get it. The exterior features a yellow “Icon” paint job that mirrors the original H2’s signature color, paired with a black front bumper shield. Inside, the cabin gets a Jet Black theme, a serialized badge on the dash, and special drive-mode animations on the infotainment screen that reference the heritage model.

GMC hasn’t said exactly how many will be built, but a photo of that badge suggests just 250 units.

For the 2027 model year, every Hummer EV now comes with Tesla’s NACS charge port as standard, giving owners direct access to the Supercharger network. The trucks also support bidirectional charging, so you can power your home during an outage with the right GM Energy equipment. New paint options for the lineup include Azurite Blue, Dark Ember, and Deep Void Matte.

Production starts later this year at GM’s Factory Zero plant in Michigan. Pricing is still under wraps, but expect details before the first deliveries.
