Genesis Unveils GV90, Its First Full-Size Electric SUV

Genesis has officially entered the full-size SUV market with the new GV90, an all-electric flagship that draws design inspiration from a traditional Korean moon jar. The production model closely mirrors the 2024 Neolun Concept, featuring the brand's signature split lighting elements, sculpted bodywork, and massive 24-inch wheels.
The most striking feature is the Neolun Arch Gate, described by Genesis as the world's first independently opening and closing hidden B-pillar coach doors. While most GV90 models will use conventional doors, the Arch Gate version is expected to appear at high-profile events. Inside, top trims offer reclining second-row seats with quilted leather, footrests, and materials like wool, cashmere, stone, and wood.
6-inch screen. 5-kWh battery, the largest ever used in a Hyundai Group vehicle, with an estimated range of around 310 miles for the seven-seat version. It can charge from 10% to 80% in 22 minutes on a 350-kW fast charger.
Dual motors produce 657 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful Hyundai Group EV. Electronic limited-slip differentials on both axles help with traction, while an adjustable air suspension and five-degree rear steering aid comfort and maneuverability. Thick 5mm acoustic glass and extensive soundproofing are fitted throughout.
Genesis hasn't released pricing or curb weight yet, so real-world performance and comparisons with German rivals remain untested. Still, the GV90 represents a bold step for the Korean brand, which has grown quickly by offering a distinct take on luxury. Whether it truly competes with BMW or Audi will require driving experience, but on paper, it's a strong contender.
