Genesis GV90 Debuts Ahead of BMW iX7 in Luxury EV Showdown

Genesis has introduced the GV90, a fully electric full-size luxury SUV that arrives about a year before BMW's second-generation X7 and its electric iX7 variant. The Korean automaker's new flagship is also positioned to compete with Rolls-Royce's upcoming electric SUV, which is due in 2027.
The GV90, especially the high-end Neolun version, is being called one of the most luxurious vehicles ever produced in South Korea. Its standout feature is the "world's first independently opening and closing hidden B-pillar coach door," found only on the Neolun trim. This door uses a dual-motion hinge that slides outward before rotating open, making entry and exit easier without a conventional B-pillar.
7 inches long, the GV90 sits between the BMW X7 and Rolls-Royce Cullinan in size. 7-inch wheelbase, nearly matching the Cullinan's. 8 inches with the Neolun's 24-inch wheels.
Inside, the GV90 offers swiveling front seats, a heated floor, a roof-mounted airbag, and extensive leather upholstery, along with traditional buttons. 6-inch diagonal when parked. A 25-inch head-up display replaces the separate driver's display. The Neolun Executive Suite adds a four-seat layout, roll blinds, and a real wood-veneer floor, plus heated armrests, side panels, and door trims.
Power comes from dual electric motors producing 657 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, with all-wheel drive as standard. 5-kWh battery provides an estimated 311 miles of range, which is less than the BMW iX5's 144-kWh pack. Charging from 10% to 80% takes 22 minutes at 350 kW.
The GV90 is expected to target Rolls-Royce buyers but likely priced closer to BMW, making it a notable entry in the crowded luxury SUV market.
