Genesis GV90: A New Electric Flagship SUV Arrives for 2027

Genesis is pushing further upmarket with its new flagship SUV, the GV90, set to debut for the 2027 model year. This all-electric model is larger, more luxurious, and more powerful than any previous Genesis, aiming to take on not just Mercedes-Benz and BMW but also the likes of Bentley and Rolls-Royce in the luxury SUV segment.

5-kWh battery pack with a claimed range of around 310 miles, and a standard air suspension for a smooth ride. Genesis says a 350-kW fast charger can take the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 22 minutes. 6-inch touchscreen running new Pleos Connect software, and a standard 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system with a Virtual Venue setting that mimics famous concert halls.

Two versions will be offered. The standard GV90 has conventional rear doors and three rows seating six or seven, with heated second-row seats and optional captain's chairs. The GV90 Neolun features coach doors, a rarity shared with the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, plus two rear thrones, swiveling front seats, retractable blinds, a refrigerator, and foldable tables.

The Neolun First Edition seats four and skips the third row, adding a cargo partition.

Genesis hasn't released pricing, cargo space, or performance test numbers yet. The warranty is expected to match other Genesis models: five years or 60,000 miles limited, 10 years or 100,000 miles powertrain, and three years or 36,000 miles complimentary maintenance. We haven't driven the GV90 yet, so real-world range and driving impressions are still to come.
