Genesis GV80 Hybrid Debuts in Korea With 347 HP and a 25% Fuel Economy Gain

Genesis has quietly launched the new GV80 Hybrid in South Korea, with the model set to hit the market next month. 5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a starter motor and a drive motor that handles both propulsion and regenerative braking.
What sets the Genesis apart is its water-cooled hybrid battery, which the automaker says manages temperature more efficiently than air-cooled systems, allowing for higher peak discharge output and more active battery use. The combined powertrain produces 347 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque, routed through a new seven-speed transmission to the rear wheels.
1 seconds.
5-liter, which makes 300 hp and 311 lb-ft, the hybrid is significantly more powerful and is expected to improve fuel efficiency by more than 25%. At startup, the vehicle runs in EV mode until it reaches roughly 19 mph, and it prioritizes electric driving in stop-and-go traffic or at red lights.
The hybrid also uses an electric motor for reversing and a smart regenerative braking system that adjusts braking intensity based on navigation data, including speed cameras and following distance.
5 Turbo and reduced engine noise by cutting torsional and bending vibrations in the crankshaft damper pulley. Styling updates include a revised grille, new wheels, four new two-tone interiors (with main colors of Obsidian Black, Taiga Green, Ultramarine Blue, and Travertine Beige), and two new genuine wood trims.
