From Eyesore to Icon: The Car Designs We Love to Revisit

From Eyesore to Icon: The Car Designs We Love to Revisit

Fashion comes and goes, and so do car designs. Remember when baggy jeans were a relic of the '90s, only to make a surprise comeback? Or when skinny jeans ruled the world? Automotive styling is no different. The jelly bean-shaped cars of the '90s and the bloated Malaise-era clunkers of the '70s were once laughed at, but today they're celebrated.

It's okay to change your mind about a car's looks, no judgment here.

I'll start with my own confession: I used to despise the Lexus SC 430. When it first rolled out, I thought its rounded front end and oversized headlights were awkward. But over the years, something shifted. Maybe it's the flood of new cars with split headlights and dashboards full of black screens that made me nostalgic for something simpler.

Whatever the reason, I now see the SC 430's pre-facelift design as a quiet masterpiece. Its smooth lines, small grille, and elegant presence remind me of a bygone era when luxury didn't need to shout.

Sure, I'm still not crazy about the rear end, but that's part of the charm. The SC 430 was supposedly inspired by the French Riviera, and while I don't quite picture a coastal drive, I do appreciate its unique character. So, what car did you once hate but now love? Drop your answer in the comments, there are no wrong answers here.

Just good stories and second chances.
