Ford’s Maverick SV300T Turns a Work Truck Into a Surprising Sports Car

Pickup trucks are great for hauling gear, tackling trails, or catching a drive-in movie from the bed. But carving through tight corners or ripping around an autocross course? That’s usually not in their job description. Ford’s Custom Garage tuning division aims to change that with the SV300T package for the compact Maverick.
Built for 2025-and-later EcoBoost models, this upgrade kit transforms the unibody pickup into a nimble performer that can hang with hot hatches like the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Hyundai Elantra N, while still offering a cargo bed and all-wheel drive.
0-liter engine. Combined with software tuning, output jumps to 300 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque, gains of 50 and 37, respectively. The package also includes revised suspension, 20-inch wheels from the Mustang Mach-E GT, a Borla cat-back exhaust, and subtle styling touches like a front spoiler and graphic accents.
Ford hasn’t announced final pricing, but insiders suggest the hardware will run around $5,000, plus tires and installation. The suspension closely mirrors the factory Lobo trim, so current Lobo owners may get a discount.
We tested both a base XL and a loaded Lobo version on an autocross course at Michigan International Speedway. The XL’s extra power was immediate, but the standard eight-speed automatic kept upshifting out of the power band, forcing the larger turbo to spool repeatedly between corners.
The Lobo, however, features a dedicated driving mode with paddle shifters and a twin-clutch rear differential from the Bronco Sport Badlands. That setup holds gears longer, downshifts aggressively under braking, and even allows a hint of trail-braking oversteer. The result is a surprisingly engaging, characterful drive, one that left us wanting more seat time.
The SV300T will be available as a factory-built option or a dealer-installed kit, and it keeps the full factory warranty. An XLT or Lariat with the package will be capable, but the Lobo’s sportier transmission and rear diff make it the enthusiast’s choice. Estimated pricing lands around $44,000 for a fully equipped SV300T Lobo, roughly the same as a Toyota GR Corolla and undercutting a Civic Type R.
It may not match those hot hatches for pure thrills, but it offers a bed, real back seats, and all-weather grip. For buyers who need practicality without sacrificing fun, that’s a tough combination to beat.
