Ford's Final 365-Horsepower Family Wagon Costs About $23,748 Used

Ford's Final 365-Horsepower Family Wagon Costs About $23,748 Used

The 2019 Ford Flex Limited EcoBoost AWD stands out as a rare three-row, 365-horsepower wagon for the US market, though Ford classifies it as a crossover SUV. It left production seven years ago, making this final version a distinctive find. When new, it started at $43,590, about $13,000 more than the base Flex; today, average used listings sit around $23,748.

That undercuts the Toyota Highlander Limited Platinum ($27,656) and Honda Pilot Elite AWD ($24,245), while landing close to the Chevrolet Traverse High Country 2LZ ($23,452).

5-liter EcoBoost V6 with twin Garrett GT1549L turbos and direct injection capable of 2,150 psi. It uses an aluminum Duratec 35 block and forged crank, backed by a six-speed automatic from a Ford-GM joint venture. But the engine is known for issues: an inboard water pump driven by the timing system can fail expensively, timing chains stretch, cam phasers can go bad, and turbo intercooler condensation may cause misfires and carbon buildup.

D. Power rates its quality and reliability 82/100. Fuel economy is 17 mpg combined, and premium gas isn't required but is often recommended.

Inside, leather seats, heated fronts, dual-zone climate control, and rear vents come standard. Second-row captain's chairs are standard, with a bench optional; seating is for up to seven. 7). Tech includes a Sync 3 touchscreen, 12-speaker Sony audio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

Safety gear includes blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and post-collision braking. 2 seconds, quick for something that looks like a boxy family hauler.
