Ford’s 795-HP Mustang Dark Horse SC Goes Topless for 2027

Ford has unveiled the 2027 Mustang Dark Horse SC convertible, a drop-top version of its supercharged V-8 muscle car. The car was shown at the Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit and will hit dealerships next spring, with orders opening this fall.
2-liter V-8 as the coupe, producing 795 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque, routed to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and a carbon-fiber driveshaft. The convertible keeps the aggressive styling of the coupe, including the vent-filled front end, swollen wheel arches, and large rear wing.
Unlike the track-focused coupe. Ford positions the convertible as a grand tourer, with a less aggressive MagneRide suspension tune. It won’t be offered with the coupe’s Track package, which includes carbon-fiber wheels, stickier tires, and carbon-ceramic brakes from the Mustang GTD.
This also rules out the Teal Accent package, as those calipers come only with the GTD-spec brakes.
Ford says the body structure was already rigid enough that no extra bracing was needed, partly because the car isn’t designed for track duty. The convertible introduces a new color, Precision Purple, with color-shifting red and pink hues, plus interior options in Black Onyx or Space Gray.
This marks the first high-performance Mustang convertible since the Shelby GT500 retired in 2022, and the GT350 before that, meaning over a decade without a drop-top fast Mustang. Pricing hasn’t been announced, but Ford expects about a $5,000 premium over the coupe, likely landing near $110,000.
