Ford Recalls Nearly 750,000 F-150s and Explorers Over Parking Brake Glitch

Ford has issued a massive recall covering over 741,000 pickup trucks and SUVs in the United States, after discovering a defect that could cause the vehicles to roll away even when parked. The recall affects certain model-year 2021 through 2023 Ford F-150 trucks and 2021 through 2022 Ford Explorer SUVs, following reports of a faulty rear-axle hub bolt that can loosen over time.
If the bolt fails, the parking brake may not engage properly, allowing the vehicle to move unexpectedly — a serious safety risk for drivers and pedestrians alike.
The automaker says it is aware of at least 300 warranty claims and 20 reports of property damage linked to the issue, though no injuries or crashes have been confirmed so far. Ford is urging owners of affected vehicles to check their parking brake operation immediately. If the parking brake doesn't hold the vehicle on a slope, or if you hear unusual noises from the rear axle, you should contact your local dealer as soon as possible.
The company plans to notify owners by mail starting in late March.
For Boca Auto Care customers, this is a good reminder to stay on top of recall notices. If you own an F-150 or Explorer from those model years, we can help you verify whether your vehicle is included and assist with any necessary repairs. Ford dealers will replace the rear-axle hub bolt and related components free of charge.
In the meantime, always set your parking brake firmly and, if parking on a hill, turn your wheels toward the curb for an extra layer of safety.
