Ford Recalls Nearly 290,000 Vehicles Over Risk of Detaching Parts

Ford Recalls Nearly 290,000 Vehicles Over Risk of Detaching Parts

Ford Motor Company has issued a sweeping recall affecting close to 290,000 vehicles across the United States, citing a risk that components could break loose while driving. The recall covers certain models of the Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, and Lincoln Corsair, primarily from the 2020 through 2023 model years.

According to federal safety regulators, the issue stems from faulty welds or fasteners that may fail over time, potentially causing parts to fly off and create hazards for other drivers.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that the problem has been linked to at least three minor accidents, though no injuries have been confirmed. In affected vehicles, rear suspension toe links or other underbody components may crack or detach, leading to a sudden loss of control.

Ford says it became aware of the defect through routine quality testing and customer complaints. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the affected parts at no cost to owners.

Owners can expect to receive official notification letters starting next month. In the meantime, Ford encourages drivers to check their vehicle identification number (VIN) on the NHTSA website or the company’s recall portal. This recall adds to a challenging year for the automaker, which has faced multiple safety actions.

For local drivers, Boca Auto Care recommends staying informed and scheduling any necessary repairs promptly to ensure safety on the road.
