Ford Recalls More Than 500,000 Broncos Over Engine Fire Risk

Ford is pulling over half a million Broncos back to dealerships after discovering a potential fire hazard lurking under the hood. The recall, announced this week, affects certain model years where engine bay components may overheat and ignite, posing a serious safety risk to drivers and passengers.

The issue centers on a faulty wiring harness or heat shield that can fail under high operating temperatures, allowing flammable fluids to come into contact with hot surfaces. Ford has confirmed at least a handful of reported fires, though no injuries have been linked to the defect so far.

Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail starting next month.

Dealers will inspect and replace the problematic parts at no cost to customers. In the meantime, Ford advises any driver who notices smoke, burning smells, or dashboard warning lights to park the vehicle outside and call for a tow immediately. This recall adds to a growing list of recent safety actions for the iconic SUV, which has faced scrutiny over quality issues since its relaunch.
