Ford Recalls 740,000 Trucks Over Rollaway Risk

Ford Motor Company is recalling nearly three-quarters of a million trucks in North America due to a defect that could cause them to roll away unexpectedly. The recall affects certain F-150 models from 2021 through 2023, as well as some 2022 Ford Mavericks and 2021 and 2022 Ford Expeditions.
The problem stems from a transmission issue that may allow the vehicles to move even when the gear shifter indicates the truck is in park.
According to documents filed with federal safety regulators, the rear axle hub bolt on these vehicles can loosen over time, leading to potential damage to the parking pawl — the component that locks the transmission when parked. If the pawl fails, the truck can roll freely, creating a serious hazard for drivers, passengers, and bystanders.
Ford says it is aware of four injuries and one crash potentially linked to the defect, though no fatalities have been reported.
The automaker will begin notifying owners by mail starting in early March. Dealers will inspect the rear axle hub bolts and replace them if needed, free of charge. For Boca Auto Care customers, this recall is a reminder to stay current on vehicle safety notices. If you own a Ford F-150, Maverick, or Expedition from the affected model years, check your VIN online or give us a call — we’ll help you schedule the repair and keep your truck safe on the road.
