Ford Recalls 2021-2026 Broncos Due to Engine Fire Hazard

Ford Recalls 2021-2026 Broncos Due to Engine Fire Hazard

Ford Motor Company has issued a recall affecting all 2021 through 2026 model year Ford Broncos due to a potential fire risk in the engine compartment. The recall, announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), covers approximately 90,000 vehicles in the United States.

The issue stems from a possible short circuit in the engine wiring harness, which could cause overheating and lead to a fire, even when the vehicle is turned off.

The problem is linked to the engine block heater wiring, which may not be properly secured. Over time, the wiring can chafe against engine components, eventually exposing the conductors. If moisture or debris makes contact, it can trigger a short circuit. Ford has received multiple reports of smoke and minor fires, though no injuries have been reported as of this writing.

Owners are advised to park their Broncos outside and away from structures until repairs are completed.

Ford dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the engine block heater wiring harness free of charge. The repair also includes adding protective shielding to prevent future chafing. Notification letters are expected to go out to owners starting in late November. For those with immediate concerns, Ford’s customer service line is open, or you can visit the NHTSA recall website.

At Boca Auto Care, we recommend staying on top of recall notices to keep your vehicle safe and reliable.
