Ford Pulls Over 110,000 Mustangs for Two Distinct Safety Flaws

Ford has issued two separate recalls covering more than 110,000 Mustang models, citing problems that could affect driver control and visibility. The larger recall targets nearly 100,000 vehicles from the 2015 through 2018 model years, where a software glitch in the electronic parking brake can prevent it from disengaging.

That means the rear wheels could lock up while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

3-liter EcoBoost engine. In these cars, a poorly secured hood latch cable may cause the hood to pop open unexpectedly. If that happens at highway speeds, the driver’s view is suddenly blocked, creating a serious hazard. Ford says it has received a handful of reports related to both issues but no confirmed injuries or deaths.

Owners will be notified by mail starting next month, and dealers will handle the fixes at no charge. The parking brake software update takes about 30 minutes, while the hood latch repair involves a new cable clip. If you drive a Mustang from the affected years, it’s worth checking Ford’s recall website with your VIN to see if your car is included.

As always, staying on top of recalls keeps your ride safe and your mind at ease.
