Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC Convertible Adds 795 HP With the Top Down

Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC Convertible Adds 795 HP With the Top Down

Ford is expanding its supercharged Mustang lineup with a convertible version of the Dark Horse SC, offering nearly the same power as the far pricier GTD. The droptop packs a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 producing 795 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque, just 20 hp shy of the GTD.

While Ford hasn't released official acceleration numbers, the power figure suggests the convertible should hit 60 mph in well under four seconds. The car starts at $108,085 for the coupe, but pricing for the convertible hasn't been announced. Orders are expected to open this fall, with deliveries beginning in the second quarter of 2027.

To maintain handling, Ford added a magnesium tower brace to compensate for the lack of a fixed roof. The company says the latest magnetic suspension offers a smooth, comfortable ride during cruising and a firmly planted feel under acceleration.

The convertible uses a power-retractable soft top and is only available with an automatic transmission. Ford hasn't detailed any other changes from the coupe, but the softer tuning suggests a focus on comfort over track performance.
