Ford Issues Two Separate Recalls for Mustang and Mach-E Models

Ford Motor Company has announced two distinct recalls affecting its popular Mustang and Mustang Mach-E models, citing separate safety concerns that owners should be aware of. The first recall targets certain Mustang coupes and convertibles from recent model years, involving a potential issue with the vehicle's powertrain control module that could cause unexpected engine stalling.
The second recall focuses on the all-electric Mustang Mach-E, where a software glitch in the battery energy control module may lead to a sudden loss of propulsion while driving.
For Mustang owners, the problem stems from a software error that may prevent the engine from restarting after a stall, increasing the risk of a crash. Ford estimates that approximately 3,500 units in Canada are affected by this recall. Meanwhile, the Mach-E recall involves roughly 2,800 vehicles in the country, where the battery management system might misinterpret voltage readings and shut down power without warning.
Both issues were identified through internal testing and customer reports, and Ford says no accidents or injuries have been linked to either problem so far.
Ford will notify affected owners by mail, instructing them to visit their local dealership for a free software update. In the case of the Mustang, technicians will reprogram the powertrain control module, while Mach-E owners will receive an over-the-air update to correct the battery control software.
If you own a 2022-2024 Mustang or a 2023-2024 Mustang Mach-E, check your vehicle identification number on Ford's recall website or contact Boca Auto Care to schedule a service appointment and ensure your car is safe to drive.
