Ford Issues Two New Recalls Covering 110,000 Mustangs and Mach-Es - and 2024 Has Been a Rough Ride

Ford is recalling more than 110,000 vehicles this week, hitting both the iconic Mustang and its electric Mach-E. The problems range from faulty windshield wipers on the Mustang to a cracked rear axle on the Mach-E. But if you’ve been watching Ford’s 2024 recall calendar, these two notices are just the latest in a long, bumpy streak.

The Mustang recall covers about 90,000 units from the 2021-2024 model years. According to Ford, the wiper motor may fail, leaving drivers without clear visibility in rain or snow. On the Mach-E side, roughly 20,000 vehicles are affected by a rear axle half-shaft that can crack and cause a loss of power.

Ford says it knows of a handful of accidents linked to the axle issue but no injuries so far. Both recalls come with free repairs at dealerships.

What makes this news bigger than the individual fixes is the pattern. Ford has now issued more than 50 recalls in 2024 alone, covering millions of vehicles. That’s a staggering volume for any automaker, and it’s raising eyebrows among safety regulators and industry watchers. For owners, the message is simple: check your VIN and get the work done.

For Ford, it’s a reminder that quality control needs to catch up with production speed.
