Ford Issues Two Major Recalls Affecting Nearly 1 Million Vehicles in Two Weeks

S. roads. The automaker is urging owners to check whether their vehicle is included, as both campaigns address safety issues that could lead to accidents or injury. The recalls cover a wide range of popular models from recent model years.

The first recall, the larger of the two, involves roughly 870,000 vehicles equipped with a defective front suspension part. Ford says the lower control arm ball joint may wear prematurely and separate, causing the driver to lose steering control. Affected models include certain Ford F-150 pickups from 2021 through 2023, as well as select 2022 Ford Mustang, Explorer, and Lincoln Aviator vehicles.

The second recall covers about 100,000 2021-2022 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs, where a rear seat belt anchor may not have been properly tightened during assembly. In a crash, that could increase the risk of injury.

Ford says it is not aware of any crashes or injuries linked to either defect, but owners should not ignore the notices. Dealers will inspect and replace parts free of charge. To see if your vehicle is included, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website or Ford’s recall page and enter your VIN.

The company expects to begin notifying owners by mail later this month.
