Ford Issues Recall for Popular SUVs Due to Seatbelt Problem

Ford Motor Company has announced a recall affecting thousands of its best-selling SUVs after discovering a potential seatbelt defect. The issue, which involves the front seatbelt pretensioners, could prevent the belts from tightening properly in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
The recall covers certain model year 2023-2024 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator vehicles, as well as some 2023 Ford Bronco Sport models.
According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the problem stems from a manufacturing error in the seatbelt assembly. In affected vehicles, the pretensioner may not deploy correctly during a collision, leaving the seatbelt too loose to restrain the occupant effectively.
Ford says it has received a small number of reports related to the issue but is not aware of any injuries or accidents tied directly to the defect.
Owners of the impacted SUVs can expect to receive notification letters starting in late November. Dealers will inspect the seatbelt systems and, if necessary, replace the faulty pretensioners at no cost to the customer. In the meantime. Ford advises drivers to continue wearing their seatbelts, as they still provide protection in most situations.
For more details, vehicle owners can check their VIN on the NHTSA website or contact their local Ford dealer.
