Ford Issues Recall for Nearly 390,000 SUVs After Reports of Unstable Seats

Ford Issues Recall for Nearly 390,000 SUVs After Reports of Unstable Seats

S. after discovering that the front passenger seats can shift unexpectedly, posing a safety risk to drivers and passengers. The recall affects select 2021 to 2023 models, including the popular Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, and Lincoln Corsair. The issue stems from a manufacturing defect in the seat frame welds that can cause the seat to move forward or backward without warning.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) received multiple complaints from owners who reported that their seats would suddenly slide while driving, making it difficult to maintain control of the vehicle. In some cases, passengers were jolted or lost balance. Ford has confirmed that no injuries or crashes have been linked to the problem so far, but the company is taking proactive steps to address the defect.

Dealers will inspect the affected vehicles and, if necessary, replace the seat frame assembly free of charge.

Owners can expect notification letters starting next month. In the meantime, anyone with concerns can check their vehicle’s recall status using Ford’s online recall lookup tool or by contacting their local dealership. This recall adds to a growing list of safety actions for automakers this year, highlighting the importance of staying up to date on vehicle maintenance and recalls.
