Ford Issues Recall for Nearly 177,000 Vehicles Over Safety Concerns

Ford Motor Company has announced a recall affecting roughly 177,000 vehicles across several popular models. The automaker says the issue involves a potential loss of power steering or a sudden reduction in braking assistance, which could increase the risk of a crash. The recall covers certain 2021-2023 Ford Broncos, 2022-2023 Ford Mavericks, and 2023-2024 Ford Transit vans, among others.
According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the problem stems from a manufacturing defect in the electronic power steering system. In some cases, a faulty sensor may cause the system to shut down unexpectedly, making the steering wheel harder to turn.
Drivers might also notice a warning light on the dashboard before the issue occurs. Ford says it has received a small number of reports related to the defect but no confirmed injuries.
Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail starting next month. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the steering gear assembly free of charge. For those who want to check their vehicle's recall status immediately, Ford has set up a dedicated website and phone line.
In the meantime, drivers are advised to pay attention to any unusual steering behavior and to contact their local dealer if they experience problems. Boca Auto Care recommends all local Ford owners verify their VIN and schedule a complimentary safety check at our shop.
