Ford Issues Recall for 387,000 Vehicles Over Unpredictable Second-Row Seat Movement

Ford Motor Company has announced a recall affecting approximately 387,000 vehicles due to a potential safety issue with the second-row seats. The problem centers on the seat’s ability to unexpectedly shift or recline, which could increase the risk of injury in a crash. The recall covers several popular models, including the 2021-2023 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator, as well as the 2021-2022 Ford F-150 and Bronco.
According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the issue stems from a faulty seat track or locking mechanism that may not properly engage. If the seat moves suddenly while the vehicle is in motion, passengers could lose balance or be thrown forward during sudden stops.
Ford says it has received a small number of reports related to this problem but no confirmed injuries or crashes as of yet.
Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail starting in late November. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the seat track assembly at no cost. Ford recommends that drivers check their vehicle’s VIN on the company’s recall website or via the NHTSA’s database to see if their car is included.
In the meantime, drivers are urged to ensure second-row seats are locked securely before each trip.
