Ford Issues Recall for 288,000 Vehicles - Here’s Which Models Are Affected

Ford Motor Company has announced a recall affecting more than 288,000 vehicles across several popular models, citing a safety issue that could increase the risk of a crash. The recall, disclosed in documents filed with federal regulators, covers certain 2021-2023 model year vehicles equipped with a specific transmission component.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the problem stems from a software glitch in the transmission control module that may cause the vehicle to unexpectedly downshift into first gear while driving at high speeds. This sudden deceleration could lead to a loss of control, increasing the likelihood of an accident.
Ford says it has received reports of two minor injuries potentially linked to the defect.
The affected models include the 2021-2023 Ford Bronco, F-150, Mustang, and Lincoln Nautilus, as well as the 2022-2023 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator. Owners will be notified by mail starting in early December, and dealers will update the transmission software free of charge.
Ford encourages anyone with questions to contact their local dealership or visit the NHTSA website to check if their vehicle is included.
If you own one of these models and haven’t received a notice yet, you can also verify your vehicle’s recall status using its 17-character VIN on Ford’s official recall page. Boca Auto Care recommends staying proactive: if you experience any unusual shifting or warning lights, bring your vehicle in for a complimentary inspection.
