Ford Issues Recall for 2026 Transit Models Due to Transmission Issue

Ford Issues Recall for 2026 Transit Models Due to Transmission Issue

Ford has announced a recall affecting certain 2026 model year Transit vans and buses, citing a potential transmission problem that could increase the risk of a crash. The issue, which was first flagged by internal quality reviews, involves a fault that may cause the vehicle to unexpectedly shift into neutral while driving, leading to a sudden loss of motive power.

According to documents filed with federal safety regulators, the defect stems from a software error in the transmission control module. This glitch can misinterpret a signal from the gear selector, causing the transmission to disengage without warning. Ford says it is aware of a small number of incidents related to the problem but no injuries have been reported.

Owners of affected vehicles will be notified starting next month.

The recall covers approximately 2,300 vehicles manufactured between September 2024 and January 2025. Dealers will update the transmission control module software free of charge. Ford advises any owner experiencing a sudden loss of power to pull over safely and contact their dealer immediately.

For more information, owners can visit Ford’s official recall website or call customer service.
