Ford Issues Massive Recall After Reports of Engine Fires

Ford Motor Company is recalling over 565,000 vehicles in the United States due to a defect that could cause engine compartment fires. The recall affects certain models from the 2020 through 2023 model years, including the Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, and Ford F-150. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a faulty electrical component in the engine block heater may overheat, even when the vehicle is off and parked.
The automaker has confirmed at least 19 reports of fires linked to the issue, though no injuries have been reported so far. Owners of affected vehicles will be notified starting next month, and dealers will replace the defective part free of charge. Ford says it is also working on a software update to help monitor the component's temperature and reduce risk.
This is Ford's second major recall in recent months, following a separate action involving over 150,000 vehicles for a transmission issue. The company urges owners to park outdoors and away from structures until repairs are complete. For more information, owners can visit Ford's recall website or contact their local dealership.
