Ford Issues Massive Recall Affecting Over 676,000 Vehicles - Here’s What Owners Need to Know

Ford Motor Company has announced a sweeping recall impacting more than 676,000 vehicles across several popular models. The recall, disclosed in filings with federal safety regulators, stems from multiple issues that could increase the risk of accidents or injury. Owners are urged to check whether their vehicle is affected and schedule repairs at no cost.

The largest portion of the recall involves roughly 456,000 Ford Bronco Sport and Maverick vehicles from the 2021 through 2024 model years. In these vehicles, a software glitch can cause the 12-volt battery to fail to detect a drop in charge, potentially leading to a sudden loss of drive power or a stalled engine.

A separate recall covers about 272,000 Ford Explorer SUVs from the 2020 through 2022 model years, where a rear suspension toe link may corrode and fracture, compromising steering control.

Ford has also recalled select 2023-2024 Lincoln Nautilus and Ford Edge models for a cracked fuel injector that could leak fuel and cause a fire. Additionally, a handful of 2024 Mustang GT and Dark Horse models are being pulled back due to a faulty rear shock absorber that may detach.

The company says it is not aware of any crashes or injuries related to these defects so far.

Owners can visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website or Ford’s recall page using their vehicle identification number (VIN) to see if their car is included. Dealers will perform the necessary repairs free of charge. For local drivers, Boca Auto Care recommends staying proactive: if your vehicle is part of the recall, schedule an appointment with your dealership right away, and keep an eye out for official notification letters from Ford, which are expected to arrive by mail.
