Ford Issues Massive Recall Affecting Over 140,000 Vehicles Across Canada

Ford has announced a sweeping recall that impacts nearly 150,000 vehicles in Canada, covering several popular models including the F-150 pickup, the Mustang Mach-E, and the Lincoln Nautilus. The automaker says the recalls stem from multiple safety issues, ranging from potential brake failures to problems with rearview cameras and seatbelt components.

The largest part of the recall involves more than 85,000 F-150 trucks from the 2021 to 2023 model years. In these vehicles, a rear-axle hub bolt can loosen over time, which may lead to a loss of power or, in worst-case scenarios, cause the vehicle to roll away while parked. Ford says it is aware of several incidents linked to the defect but has not reported any crashes or injuries in Canada.

Another recall targets roughly 38,000 Mustang Mach-E electric crossovers from 2021 and 2022. The issue here involves a software glitch that can cause the rearview camera image to freeze or not display, increasing the risk of a backup collision. Additionally, about 10,000 Lincoln Nautilus SUVs from 2021 are being recalled because the front seatbelt pretensioners may not deploy properly during a crash.

Ford has confirmed it will notify affected owners by mail and instruct them to visit dealerships for free repairs. The company is also urging Canadian drivers to check their vehicle identification number on the Transport Canada recall website to see if their car is included. As of now, no timeline has been given for when replacement parts will be available for all the affected models.
